Thursday 26th January – bike *** Landguard for lunch – sunshine and
showers.
Funny day for weather, lots of fine rain this morning so had loads of time
to do my exercises, as we were out for a cuppa the with friends in the
afternoon we hoped to get out on the bikes for lunch if the rain stops! It
did stop and we had some glimpses of blue with some sunshine making it
milder than of late, up to a balmy 7 degrees but there was a moderate
breeze from the north. With picnic packed we left home at 12.20 heading
straight down to the prom and with a tail wind we whizzed to the end at the
Manor End. Then through Landguard Nature reserve to our spot on the old
pier but that was in the wind so went and sat in the shelter of the old
concrete gun bunker near the wooden jetty and with the sun on our faces it
was lovely:) Cuppa soup and pate crackers for lunch, we certainly know how
to live with lovely views down the River Orwell with the sun glistening off
the water. Felixstowe docks were very quiet with only one container ship
in. Well rested we headed back, not many birds to be seen but loads of
rabbits. We then biked through Langer Park stopping briefly at Lidl before
returning home to send a few pics to both local ITV and BBC weather and was
lucky enough to get on each today:) We then had a great couple of hours
with our old friends just down the road having a yummy scone too!
